Dr. Jon Klein,
principal horn

Jon Klein is Professor of Horn and Coordinator of Brass Studies at BYU-Idaho, where he is a member of the faculty brass and wind quintets. His current assignment is to teach the horn studio and conduct chamber music. His university students have been accepted to prestigious graduate schools and have placed at a variety of performance competitions. Prior to joining the faculty at BYU-Idaho, Klein held adjunct appointments at Whitman College and Walla Walla University. He has performed with the Utah Symphony, Utah Chamber Orchestra, Utah Festival Opera, Spokane Symphony, Boise Philharmonic, Walla Walla Symphony, and Billings Symphony. He has also been featured as a soloist with the BYU-Idaho Symphony Orchestra, BYU-Idaho Symphony Band, University of Utah Wind Ensemble and the Walla Walla Symphony. Klein studied music performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Boston University. He earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in performance with a minor in conducting from the University of Utah. Jon resides in Rexburg with his wife Rebecca, also an accomplished horn player, and their two sons.
