Jilene Burger, principal flute

Jilene Burger has played with the Idaho Falls Symphony for 29 years. She received her first music instruction in Austin, Texas from her mother, and then studied with Wallace Mann, the famed Julius Baker and Samuel Baron. Jilene received her Bachelor of Music degree from BYU at Provo in Flute Performance. She has teaching certificates for both high school and elementary teaching and was professor of flute at BYU-Idaho for five years. Jilene has recently been conducting orchestras for musicals with the Sounds Choir and for School District 91, including such classics as The King and I, Fiddler on the Roof, Grease, Bye-Bye Birdie, Little Women, and Guys and Dolls, among others. She presently teaches music at A.H. Bush Elementary School, and maintains a private flute studio with students whom she loves like her own. Besides being involved in music, Jilene loves serving in her church, working in her garden, and playing with her grandchildren.
