Elizabeth Stewart, age 16, is the daughter of Richard and Jackie Stewart and has 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She is a 10th grader at Idaho Falls High School where her favorite subjects are history and math. She has studied piano for 10 years, first with her mother and her sister Kathryn Stewart Gilbert, then with Mark Neiwirth, Carolyn Beard, and currently with Virginia Willard. Elizabeth has performed in festivals for 8 years, and has been an annual recipient of Idaho Falls Music Club scholarships, with which she has attended summer camp at Idaho State and Utah State University. She has played 4 years in Sonatina/Sonata Competition, where she has won four 1st place awards. She received 1st place in last fall’s Eastern Idaho Bach Competition. She has also received two 3rd place awards and two Honorable Mentions in the Musicians West Competition. In the fall of 2016 she had the honor of being selected as a finalist in the Idaho Falls Youth Symphony Auditions final concert, where she played the first movement of the Mozart D Minor Piano Concerto. This year she is playing the Concerto No. 1 in C Major by Beethoven. This past April, she won 1st prize in the Dahle Piano Competition in Preston, Idaho. In addition to piano, she also plays violin. Besides music, Elizabeth also enjoys playing basketball, running, tennis, and skiing.
