On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Idaho Falls Symphony Society, I am delighted to welcome you to the 59th season of the Symphony. We are very fortunate to have one of the finest orchestras in our region comprised of talented musicians from throughout southeast Idaho. The Symphony indeed adds to the cultural enrichment of our community.

Our Board represents a cross-section of our community. They are dedicated to promoting the orchestra and to keeping our organization fiscally sound. Our Endowment Fund continues to grow. It has been invested with the Idaho Community Foundation, which will help ensure the future security of the Symphony.

This season is both varied and exciting, thanks to our illustrious maestro, Dr. George Adams. “Symphony in the Park” kicked off the year in September when over 1000 people enjoyed a free concert on the lawn at Freeman Park.

October features “Carnival of the Animals,” which is fun for the whole family and filled with surprises. The concert also features our very fine Eastern Idaho Youth Symphony under the direction of David Burger.

Holst’s “The Planets” is November’s highlight. Audiences will marvel at the multi-media space images projected throughout the performance. We welcome back the popular Mariachi Champaña Nevín in December as we usher in the holidays.

January features Lee Ann Morgan and our own James Waite performing the duet portion of Bach’s “Brandenburg 6” in a concert called “Basically Baroque”.

We are pleased to be collaborating, for the third year, with EIRMC for the “Red Dress” concert in February, which features Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony. We will also present the winner of the Young Artists’ Competition.

Fun is in store for the “Wild, Wild West” concert in March. Frank Oden recites his cowboy poetry during a varied performance which culminates with the “Grand Canyon Suite” by Grofe.

The April concert again highlights our premier Youth Orchestra, and our season ends in May with Kotaro Fukuma, an amazing pianist who returns to an appreciative audience for a third time.

We are deeply indebted to the sponsors, advertisers, and patrons who make this all possible. We invite you to peruse this program and support those who support us. The Idaho Falls Symphony is a cultural gem and we are grateful for your part in our growth and our success.
